Champagne Football

John Delaney and the Betrayal of Irish Football

Mark Tighe

"Champagne Football" delves into the fascinating and shocking story of John Delaney, who for 15 years ran the Football Association of Ireland like his own personal empire. Mark Tighe and Paul Rowan reveal the truth about Delaney's reign of power, including his mishandling of finances and personal compensation. This award-winning exposé offers a gripping, at times darkly humorous, and always enraging look into the culture of excess that Delaney fostered at the expense of the organization he led.

Just finished Champagne Football by ⁦@marktigheST⁩ & ⁦@paulrowantree⁩. Spent most of the book saying ‘Jaysus’ out loud. For me it’s a perfect way to learn about governance by observing the consequences of the lack of governance.      source
