The Age of Entitlement book cover

The Age of Entitlement

America Since the Sixties

Christopher Caldwell

Explore the unintended consequences of the 1960s liberal uprising in The Age of Entitlement. Author Christopher Caldwell unpacks the reforms that were intended to make America more just and humane but instead left many feeling alienated, misled, and ready to elect an unorthodox president. From Playboy to Black Lives Matter, this roller-coaster ride through the past half century shows how attempts to right past wrongs have left Americans living under two different sets of rules. A timely and fascinating read.

This is both a very old thesis, but these days quite new, namely the claim that 1965 and the Civil Rights movement created a “new constitution” for America, at variance with the old, and the two constitutions have been at war with each other ever since. It will be one of the influential books “on the Right” this year.      source
