A Bride in the Bargain

This historical fiction novel follows the story of Joe Denton, a man living in 1860s Seattle who needs a wife to secure his 640 acres of timberland. After his wife dies, he turns to the Mercer girls from the East, buying one to marry in name but keep as a cook.
