If He Hollers Let Him Go

A Novel (Himes, Chester)

Chester Himes

A powerful novel that explores the fear and toll of being black in a heavily race-conscious society. Set over four days in the life of Bob Jones, the story follows his constant struggle against the effects of racism. This book offers a concentrated and austere study of black experience in Southern California during the 1940s.

IF HE HOLLERS LET HIM GO by Chester Himes is a great novel. Such an impt. look at race in America. Incredibly relevant today. I keep thinking about the ending, esp in light of what's happened since the book was written in 1945.      источник
