Satin Island

A novel

Tom McCarthy

Satin Island by a notable author is a novel that explores the idea that our access to the truth is always influenced and obscured. The main character U. is a corporate ethnographer tasked with writing an all-encompassing report about our era, but he finds himself overwhelmed by the ubiquity of data and lost in buffer zones. His developing interest in oil spills adds depth to his character. Through U's experiences, the novel captures the way we experience our world and our efforts to find meaning in it.

@hannah_bo_banna Yes! Love all this rambling (more please!). The future and the past are the same thing through two different lenses. And corporate histories are fascinating things. I'd recommend the book Satin Island where the above quote comes from - fun exploration of some of these ideas.      source
