Anil's Ghost

A Novel

Michael Ondaatje

"Anil's Ghost" by Michael Ondaatje is a powerful novel that takes us to Sri Lanka, a country torn by civil war after centuries of tradition. An international human rights group sends Anil Tissera, a young forensic anthropologist born in Sri Lanka and educated in England and America, to uncover the source of the organized murders ravaging the island. The story delves into love, family, identity, and the quest to uncover the hidden past against the backdrop of Sri Lanka's stunning landscape and ancient civilization. With gripping mystery and evocative language, this is Ondaatje's most compelling work yet.

Made me cry. It is such a moving book, told with such heart and grace. Eghosa Imasuen’s Fine Boys made me laugh. It’s a brilliant novel about contemporary Nigeria.      source
