Frances Ryan

This book exposes the alarming reality of the effects of Britain's austerity crisis on disabled people. Frances Ryan tells the heart-wrenching stories of those affected by cuts to social care and the benefits system, including a man who had to crawl down the stairs because his home was not accessible, a malnourished woman sleeping in her wheelchair, and a young girl with bipolar disorder forced to engage in sex work for survival. Through these tales, Ryan charts how society has shifted from compassion to contempt towards the disabled, resulting in a safety net gone wrong. A passionate call to end austerity.

This book is a superb & searing indictment of austerity and what it’s doing to UK’s disabled citizens. Happy Corbyn has read it. Labour’s manifesto on social care & the NHS would implement much of what Dr. Ryan’s book calls for.      source
