The First Inside Account of Venture Capitalists at Work

Randall E. Stross

Discover the fascinating true story of the venture capitalists who backed billion-dollar startups like eBay and Webvan in the early days of Silicon Valley. Author Randall Stross gains unprecedented access to Benchmark, an upstart firm founded by six tall renegades whose net worth has increased by $100 million annually since 1995. He recounts their conversations in testosterone-rich detail, giving readers the most precise and enlightening account of the ways in which venture capitalists think, evaluate prospects, and wield influence. With vivid storytelling, eBoys captures the interplay of ambition, personality, experimentation, and risk that defined the new world of Internet commerce and the creation of vast, sudden wealth.

I finished reading eBoys yesterday. Best book ever on VC: * Benchmark allowed a journalist inside partner meetings & you see internal debates /eBay creation. * Firsthand account of @bgurley being recruited to Benchmark. * Wish more VC's gave this access.      source

I read 51 books in 2017 (may squeeze in one or two more before EOY). Here are my favorites, with a little bit of commentary. In no particular order:      source
