Why Something We Never Evolved to Do Is Healthy and Rewarding
Daniel Lieberman
This fascinating book tackles the subject of exercise, exploring why so many people dislike or avoid it despite its health benefits. From running to weightlifting and even dancing, the author uses engaging stories and explanations to revolutionize the way you think about physical activity. The book also addresses common questions, such as whether running ruins your knees or if sitting is really the new smoking. Through insights from evolutionary biology and anthropology, the author suggests how we can make exercise more enjoyable and effective, and reduce our vulnerability to diseases. This thought-provoking read strikes the perfect balance of scholarship, wit, and enthusiasm.

I'm only a few chapters in but enthusiastically recommend Daniel Lieberman's book, Exercised. Very informative and entertaining. (His book, The Story of the Human Body, is also terrific.) – source
