The Privatized State book cover

The Privatized State

Chiara Cordelli

This book explores the controversial topic of government outsourcing of public powers to private entities. From prisons to healthcare, privatization raises questions about legitimacy and freedom. The author argues that privatization constitutes a regression to a precivil state, reproducing the same defects that Enlightenment thinkers attributed to it. She advocates for constitutional limits on privatization and a more democratic system of public administration. The Privatized State challenges readers to consider the limits of outsourcing and the importance of properly constituted political institutions in a just society.
