Thinking Through Methods

A Social Science Primer

John Levi Martin

Become a better sociological researcher with "Thinking Through Methods" by John Levi Martin. This witty and insightful guide focuses on the practical decisions you need to make as a social scientist, from where your data comes from to how it relates to other potential data. Unlike other guides, Martin encourages readers to think through and with methods, while acknowledging our cognitive limitations and proposing solutions to compensate. With a strong emphasis on ethical and principled research, "Thinking Through Methods" is an essential tool for students at any level in their sociological research.

Martin’s Thinking Through Methods is as irreverent as it is insightful. I thoroughly recommend it. I probably won’t use it in my methods teaching from start to finish but there are multiple insights that I can draw from the book and/or assign entire chapters. 10/10 </end thread>      source
