Under the Banner of Heaven

A Story of Violent Faith

Jon Krakauer

Take a dive into the dark world of religious belief in America. Under The Banner of Heaven is a shocking nonfiction book that explores the violent past and present of America's fastest-growing religion - Mormonism. Author Jon Krakauer, known for his insightful chronicles of lives lived at the outer limits, paints a bone-chilling narrative of messianic delusion, polygamy, unyielding faith, and savage violence. The book follows a meticulously researched account of the appalling double murder committed by two Mormon Fundamentalist brothers, Ron and Dan Lafferty, who believed they were following a divine command. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in exploring the extremes of religious belief and the nature of human behavior.

Under the Banner of Heaven is one of the best books I have ever read. If the TV series on FX is even 1/10th as good it’ll be one of the best thing we see all year.      source
