Writing and Difference

Jacques Derrida

Discover a landmark of contemporary French thought in Writing and Difference, a collection of essays by Jacques Derrida. With his systematic deconstruction of Western metaphysics, Derrida challenges traditional concepts in modern thought and reveals the program that makes thought itself possible. His analyses on Artaud, Freud, Bataille, Hegel, and Lévi-Strauss have become introductions to Derrida's notions of writing and différence, making it an excellent read for students of literature, philosophy, and psychoanalysis. Join Derrida as he questions thought as we know it and develops new ways of thinking, reading, and writing.

@M_Millerman Agree. I read most of Derrida's books back in college, in the 80s. Even saw him speak once. Hard to explain why they were worth reading, but they shook loose a lot of my preconceptions about how language, truth, & power work. These ones were esp. inspiring.      source
